New Zealand is in national lockdown due to Covid-19

New Zealand went to national lockdown from 11:59 pm on 25 March 2020. Residents are urged to stay at home to break the chain of transmission.

Temporary class visa holders affected by the coronavirus outbreak

Holders of a work, student, or visitor visa with an expiry date of 1 April 2020 or earlier and who are unable to leave New Zealand must apply online for a new visa. An interim visa will be issued.

Holders of a work, student, visitor, limited or interim visa with an expiry date of 2 April to 9 July 2020 inclusive who are in New Zealand on 2 April 2020 will have their visas automatically extended to 25 September 2020. Confirmation of extensions will be emailed to all visa holders.

Travel restrictions into New Zealand

The New Zealand Government closed its border for almost travellers except for NZ Citizens, residents and their immediate families from 23:59 on Thursday 19 March 2020. Exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis.

Self-isolation for arrivals into New Zealand

People who are allowed to enter New Zealand must register with Healthline on 0800 358 5453 and self-isolate for 14 days when arriving in New Zealand
